Sooo many overworked and overwhelmed parents out there have relegated healthy changes for their kids into the “too hard basket”, even though they know it’s making things harder or worse.
Why? Usually it’s not from lack of trying. It’s often because parents have tried in the past, and it was slammed down by the kids (or replace with 'all too hard?').
Because let’s be honest - as any parent who has done this can attest (myself included), maintaining strong resolve in the face of big emotions and complaints from fussy kids can be incredibly stressful to sustain for any period of time. We parents have enough going on!
So the kids stubbornness wins out over our commitment.
And over time, that’s a recipe for parent-guilt, and spiralling health and behaviour for the kids.
Nobody wants that.
But we put up with all that frustration, because we don’t really know how to start making positive change a success for our family.
Well I think we’ve been doing it backwards all this time.
We don’t need to go in all guns blazing, declaring to the kids a food revolution is upon them!
It’s time for a different…. easier approach don’t you think?
An approach that will see you being a force for positive change in your children’s lives, all without those darling little angels noticing.
There's a LOT we parents can do 'on the sly', that our kids won’t notice. Your really don’t need to tell anyone in the family what you’re doing (yet).
And those small sly things? They can have a significant impact!
