Our organic rapadura sugar is an unrefined sugar, popular for its unique caramel flavour, fine grain and gorgeous golden colour. It is produced by simply evaporating the water from organic sugar cane juice. Rapadura is the pure juice extracted from the sugarcane (using a press), which is then evaporated over low heats, whilst being stirred with paddles, then ground up to produce a grainy sugar. It has not been cooked at high heats nor spun to change it into crystals and the molasses has not been separated from the sugar.
No pesticides or artificial fertilisers are used and our growers work with nature to build the fertility and health of our soil while caring for our environment. Our sugar does not contain chemicals or anti-caking agents.
Organic farming has a low carbon footprint. Pure and simple, just the way nature intended.
