Also known as red tea, or bush tea, rooibos is native to the western cape province of South Africa. Rooibos tea is naturally rich in powerful antioxidants and a wide range of minerals including calcium, magnesium and zinc. Naturally caffeine free, it is a popular alternative to black tea, perfect any time of day. Beautiful served on its own, or with milk, this full bodied tea offers an exceptionally smooth, sweet, and slightly nutty flavour.
Ways to Use: Chill rooibos chai tea and serve with plenty of ice and slices of lemon or orange. A strong infusion can be used to add wonderful rich and spicy notes to homemade ice cream, desserts and baked goods.
Directions Place a heaped teaspoon (2.5 grams) of tea per cup (250ml) into a teapot or infuser. Add filtered water at 75ºc–85ºc and allow to infuse for 3 –4 minutes. Strain the tea and serve. Add milk and sweetener if desired.
